why i miss james posey

October 31st, 2008 michelle View Comments

*sigh* I miss the pre-game manhugs too. COME BACK Pose! Come back! Hmm, sounds a little desperate. I guess I’ll just continue to focus on my new man, Money in the Bank… err, The Show!

I’m not gonna lie. This frightened me. So I had to post it to YouTube.

The random shot of the camera was also peculiar. Happy Halloween!

for the love of shamrock headbands

…and all that is holy.

Apparently, my new Celtics favorite/obsession, Leon Powe, already has a nickname!

Wha wha WHAT?

Yes. According to this article, his nickname is “The Show.”

I’m going to need a minute. It won’t be easy to give up, “Money in the Bank”, but I suppose I’ll have to try if everyone else is going to insist on referring to him as The Show. Mmmm. I guess it rhymes with Powe, so… I’ll have to give it a go.

celtics season opener

October 29th, 2008 michelle View Comments

Thoughts on last night’s Celtics v. Cavs game:

  • I loved the ceremony. I’m not sure why it didn’t occur to me when I was hunkered over my laptop at the exact moment the tickets went on sale to try and get season opener tickets because it would’ve been great to see it in person. Oh well.
  • It was cool that the rings were placed in the shape of the number 17.
  • It surprised me that Paul Pierce was so weepy, but hey, there’s nothing wrong with that. Dude waited a long time to win a championship.
  • My favorite part was watching the players raise the banner to the rafters. Maybe someday it’ll be old hat and won’t make me get all choked up, but this was special.
  • The team looked rusty in the beginning and I had a serious fear that it was going to end up being a replay of that Heat/Bulls blowout game a couple years ago. But, they came out after half-time looking more like their old selves and went on to win the game. Hell to the yeah.
  • Delonte West looks strange with hair.
  • Adam Morrison looks strange without hair.
  • My favorite podcast has turned video. Sweet.
  • THANK GOD THE NBA SEASON IS BACK!
  • Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
  • Oh and one last thing. I’m floating around ideas for an official NBA nickname for Leon Powe. Every time he makes a great play around the basket, I usually yell, “Money in the bank, baby!” So naturally my first inclination is to nickname him, “Money.” Not sure the nickname “Money” will catch on though… I’m trying to put the nugget in people’s mind though. Just nosh on it for awhile and get back to me.

Boston.com: Paul Pierce met and served coffee to fans at local Dunkin Donuts on Monday afternoon. Pierce talked about winning a championship and picking up his ring at Tuesday night’s home opener against the Cavaliers (video by By Chona Camomot, Globe Staff).

Haha, this video is sublime and really makes me chuckle.

random thoughts

October 24th, 2008 michelle View Comments
  • When did I turn 80 years old? I was all pumped up to watch the Laker game last night and ended up falling asleep instead. Blah.
  • I’m annoyed that the smelly Rays won last night. I wanted the Phillies to sweep. I don’t have any actual affinity for the Phillies, I just hate the Rays.
  • Was I smoking crack Monday night or did the Patriots really demolish the Broncos? I was shocked and awed by the whole thing. I know the Broncos defense sucks, but Cutler is usually an offensive juggernaut. Yay for the win either way. I’ll take them any way I can get them.
  • Does it really matter where Tom Brady gets his poor mangled up knee worked on? Also, I love it when ESPN reports on a story for two days and then has to report on how the report is being denied. It’s good times.

  • I’m excited for the first Celtics game of the season. It’ll be awesome to see the new banner and the guys get their rings. I just hope they don’t lose their focus because of it (like the Heat did against the Bulls the season following their championship run).
  • Rumors are that the Dodgers are planning to offer Mannywood a 2-year 27.5 million dollar contract. He wanted a 4-5 year contract so I imagine in order for this to work, they’ll have to meet him halfway at 3. If that happens and he stays in LA, I will be bummed. I was really hoping he would sign with the Yankees so I could spend the next few years booing him heartily and shaking my fist at the TV.
  • Just heard about Isiah Thomas. If the story is true, I feel honestly sad for the guy. Somehow though, I feel like it’s going to end up being like T.O. where his publicist is going to come out and tell us how many millions of reasons Isiah has to live.

there’s always next year…

Blah. I hate that line. But really, what is there left to say? I think the Red Sox did a great job this year. They exceeded my expectations. Another world series would’ve been greedy probably, but I had high hopes after they dodged the Game 5 bullet. I wish I had something more eloquent to say on the subject, but that’s about it. My only solace is that the they went further than Manny’s Dodgers. That’s petty, right? Oh well.

Ok, the masses have spoken.

Besides, that theme would’ve been a pain in the *bleep* to maintain anyway.

egos are up and so is manny’s

Just when I think Manny has sunk as low as he can sink in my eyes, he goes and tops himself. Following the Dodgers getting bounced out of the playoffs, Manny answers inquiries about his future:

“I want to thank the fans for their great support. I think it was a great trade.”

“I’m not talking, guys. I said all I had to say yesterday. I’ll send you guys a Christmas card.”

“I just want to go home and spend some time with my family. I want to see who is the highest bidder. Gas is up and so am I.”

Sweet baby jesus. Gas is up and so am I? Really Manny? Really?

Blah, whatever. I pity the fans of whatever team he ends up with. They have no idea how quickly Manny will become Manny and turn into a lazy sack of turnips.

i love me some leon powe

October 17th, 2008 michelle View Comments

During the pre-game show last night (before the pre-season Celtics v. Nets game) they interviewed my new favorite Celtic (my old fave being James Posey of course *sigh*), Leon Powe. Man. I love me some Leon Powe! He’s so mature and unselfish. What’s not to love? I’m looking forward to seeing how Leon, Big Baby and Tony Allen all do this year. They should all be seeing more minutes. I watched last night’s game on and off. I just think pre-season games are fairly unwatchable. I love the bench guys, but when they’re all in the game at once there’s just no flow. I’ll be happy when the regular season starts. I might try and snag tix for November when they play the Knicks. It will be interesting to see if the Knicks are vastly improved with a decent coach.
