celtics season opener

Thoughts on last night’s Celtics v. Cavs game:

I loved the ceremony. I’m not sure why it didn’t occur to me when I was hunkered over my laptop at the exact moment the tickets went on sale to try and get season opener tickets because it would’ve been great to see it in person. Oh well.
It was cool that the rings were placed in the shape of the number 17.
It surprised me that Paul Pierce was so weepy, but hey, there’s nothing wrong with that. Dude waited a long time to win a championship.
My favorite part was watching the players raise the banner to the rafters. Maybe someday it’ll be old hat and won’t make me get all choked up, but this was special.
The team looked rusty in the beginning and I had a serious fear that it was going to end up being a replay of that Heat/Bulls blowout game a couple years ago. But, they came out after half-time looking more like their old selves and went on to win the game. Hell to the yeah.
Delonte West looks strange with hair.
Adam Morrison looks strange without hair.
My favorite podcast has turned video. Sweet.
THANK GOD THE NBA SEASON IS BACK!

Oh and one last thing. I’m floating around ideas for an official NBA nickname for Leon Powe. Every time he makes a great play around the basket, I usually yell, “Money in the bank, baby!” So naturally my first inclination is to nickname him, “Money.” Not sure the nickname “Money” will catch on though… I’m trying to put the nugget in people’s mind though. Just nosh on it for awhile and get back to me.
