celtics afterthoughts: “chuck is stupid”

November 30th, 2008 michelle View Comments

I'm King James, bitch!Celtics @ Bobcats 89-84

Why was this game so close? Why did Adam Morrison cut off his trademark locks? Why can’t I remember anything else about this game?

Celtics v. 76ers 102-78

The final score makes this game seem like just an ordinary rout, but it was actually even more of a blowout than that. The Andres don’t seem to be happy with the Elton Brand trade and it doesn’t seem like that team is going anywhere. Doc Rivers said both before and after the game that the 76ers would be a team to be reckoned with down the road once they built some chemistry. He would know better than I would, but I’m skeptical.

Celtics v. Warriors 119-111

My annoying cousin and his more annoying wife went to this game and said it was good. I watched it on TV and thought it sucked. The Warriors are only fun to watch on their own floor and they were a lot more interesting with Baron Davis at the point. I’m not sure what they are now… I think they’re lacking an identity. Oh! Speaking of the Warriors — which always makes me think about Charles Barkley calling them midgets — how funny is the Lebron/Chuck beef? Charles is all telling Lebron to shut up about playing anywhere else in 2 years and Lebron is all like, “Chuck is stupid” and should shut up. Good times, good times.

celtics afterthoughts: nostalgia reigns

Celtics @ Raptors 118-103

I’m not gonna lie. I totally spaced on this game and watched the Patriots KICK JOEY PORTER’S TRASH TALKING ASS take care of business against the Miami Dolphins instead. I DVR’ed the morning re-airing, but I’m not sure if I’ll bother to watch it or not. It appears to have been a rout. Speaking of routs, I heard the Pistons got vanquished by the Timberwolves. Holy inconsistency Batman. Right around the time that they gave the Lakers their first loss of the season, I thought I was going to have to take back my initial pronouncement that the Pistons would be lost without Chauncey Billups. Hmm, guess not.

Celtics @ Timberwolves 95-78

It’s so bittersweet for me every time we play the Timberwolves. I feel like I’m watching Celtics varsity vs. Celtics jv (no offense to Big Al, who I adore). If I’m not careful, sometimes I find myself cheering for my old team. There will always be a place in my heart for Big Al, Ryan Gomes and Delonte West [when I watch the Cavs]. I miss them. Sigh.

Celtics v. Pistons 98-80

There’s something rotten in Denmark when I have to worry more about the Celtics playing the Hawks than the Pistons. The Celtics seem to have the Pistons number though. I would’ve expected this game to be a lot closer, but it was pretty much over about halfway through. It would’ve been nice if the Pistons would’ve just conceded the win to the C’s so we could start the Lakers/Suns game early… then I would’ve actually been able to watch it.

Celtics v. Knicks 110-101

scalTechnically this isn’t an afterthought because I’m watching the game right now, but what-ev. I feel the need to relay that after a successful bucket by Leon Powe, Tommy Heinsohn just declared, “That’s money in the bank right there!!” YES! SCORE! I knew the nickname would catch on… I just knew it. *winkys* I also must say that I just watched, with my own two eyes, Glen “Big Baby” Davis nailing two long jumpers in a row. Go bench go! Oh and the most interesting factoid of all regarding this game? Brian Scalabrine started the game in KG’s absence. Like whoa. Apparently Doc wanted to keep the bench intact. Good call from Doc apparently because the bench is tearing it up.

Post-game update: Scal nailed a sweet 3-pointer near the end of the game which was named, “Play of the Game” and Perk was named, “Player of the Game.” Scal was also given the post-game Tommy Award from Tommy Heinsohn. It appears that tonight could best be coined “Brian Scalabrine Night”… Now how often can you say that? Way to go, Scal.

Celtics @ Bucks 102-97

As previously stated, I’m not enamored with watching the Bucks. I’m not sure what I was smoking in an earlier blog post when I said I missed the game because they were playing in Milwaukee and I hate the playing floor — because that was a home game for the Celtics. However, this game was actually played on the Bucks floor, so of course I didn’t watch it. Turns out it was an exciting game that went into overtime and featured a scuffle that ultimately got KG suspended. Ballicky brickhouse monkeyballs, why do I always miss the good stuff? I guess that will teach me to boycott certain games over ugly playing surfaces.

Celtics v. Denver 85-94

Billups seemed to have his way with the Celtics all night. I think he’s exactly what the Nuggets needed because he – oh I don’t know – plays defense.

shaq flings people like ragdolls

I know in Internet terms that this video is ancient, but I just love it so… The Big Shaqtus enters the fray and just starts flinging grown men around like ragdolls. Good times, good times.

celtics afterthoughts: bibby, the snarky punk

November 14th, 2008 michelle View Comments

Celtics v. Hawks | 103-102

Another one for the ages. Paul Pierce hit a in-your-face-bitch game winner over Al Horford and it was BEAUTIFUL. I can’t express heartily enough how much I despise Mike Bibby. The TV coverage helps of course, because they keep re-running that footage of Bibby dissing Celtics fans. Every time I see that, I want to pop him in the nose. Even if I didn’t have a good reason though, I think he’d still repel me. He has a snarky punk look about him. That’s reason enough.

Paul Pierce for MVP!! Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

celtics afterthoughts: ugly nba floors disturb me

Celtics v. Raptors | 94-87

What a comeback. Paul Pierce had 22 points in the 4th quarter. Wow. He was in a zone and completely took over the game. I couldn’t believe my eyes. They were behind most of the night and then WAM, they woke up and threw up the pressure defense and PP just went off. Un-freakin-real.

Celtics @ Pistons | 88-76

The Celtics played monster defense and ultimately won by 12 at the Palace. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Pistons. I figured they’d either looked discombobulated or AI would provide some sort of amazing energy spark that would leave the Celtics breathless. Thankfully for the Celtics, it was more of the former. I don’t like the Iverson trade for Detroit. I don’t think it’s going to work. Time will tell though.

Celtics @ Bucks Celtics v. Bucks | 101-89

This was another game that I hardly watched. Mainly because I can’t stand the design on the Bucks floor. There are certain arenas that just hurt my eyes.

celtics afterthoughts: flipping off inanimate objects

Celtics @ Thunder | 96-83

This game was much MUCH closer than I thought it would be. Other than that, I can’t remember much about it because I ended up watching more of the Cleveland game. Delonte is looking good this season. I think getting to start at SG instead of PG agrees with him. I don’t know why I was gravitating more towards the Cavs game… maybe it’s because the Celtics were playing down to the competition (again, *cough* Pacers game).

Celtics @ Rockets | 103-99

I almost had a heart attack watching the end of this game. The refs calls were awful and maybe because I was tired (or maybe because I’m crazy), I just started jumping up and down on my futon flipping the bird at the TV. Yeah. I’m not proud of it. Haha. It’s a damn good thing the Celtics won the game because if they’d lost because of some bullshrimp NOT IN THE ACT OF SHOOTING foul, I’d have thrown the entire TV out the window. Other than freaking out at the end, I did enjoy the game… Ray and Perk were on fiyah. Who the hell knew Perk could actually shoot the ball? Where did that come from?

thoughts on…

November 3rd, 2008 michelle View Comments

Celtics: As good as the Celtics looked against the Bulls, they looked equally awful against the Pacers. I’m going to chalk this one up to fatigue and assume it won’t happen again any time soon *knocking on wood*. Speaking of the Bulls, could Tyrus Thomas be any more of an overrated tool? I know he and Baby are BFF and all, but I’ve never liked his attitude. I don’t like that attitude on anyone, but if you’re going to have that attitude, you better be able to back it up with great play — and he doesn’t.

NBA: Allen Iverson to the Pistons? Billups to Denver? I did not see that coming. I will have to visit my favorite Pistons blogs to see how that news is going over.

Patriots: I couldn’t watch. Based on all the post-game analysis I’ve listened to today, I’m glad I didn’t. *sigh* Also, there is just something that still frosts my cookies every time Adam V. (too lazy to Google the last name for correct spelling) kicks a game winner against the Pats. Grrrr.

Manny: Latest from the worldwide leader has spawn-of-Satan uber-agent Scott Boras sitting down with the Dodgers to haggle over Mannywood’s services. I’m still crossing my fingers for the Yankees. Something about putting Manny and A-Rod together into the utlimate haterade sandwich would just make my life complete.
