celtics afterthoughts: hey, chicken little

Celtics @ Warriors 89-99

Well now, that was not a fun game to watch (unless you’re a GSW fan). I wasn’t surprised by the outcome. I didn’t think the team looked “right” from the jump. They had a lead and I did assume they’d win, but when things went sour, it wasn’t entirely shocking. But, to the people who’ve been saying, “The sky is falling, the sky is falling!” all I have to say to them is, “Calm down, chicken little.” The Celtics are fine. They’re going to be fine. Only people with ridiculous expectations would demand a winning streak just go on and on and on. The season is too damn long for that. I wouldn’t mind seeing a veteran addition to the bench for stability and leadership, but that’s about the only thing I think they need.

Boston won its 19^th straight, and I’ll admit to being underwhelmed. Not at the feat, which is quite impressive. It’s because … they’re the Celtics. This team is so good, it makes sense that they’ve won 19 in a row. They might lose two of three over the next week, then peel off another 19 in a row. Makes complete and total sense.
