celtics afterthoughts: where’s the defense?

Posted on | April 19, 2009 | Comments

I’m not going to jump off a ledge over losing the first game in a seven game series by only two points in overtime. After all, Ray Allen certainly can’t suck any harder offensively going forward even if he tied one arm behind his back, right? But, for the love of green shamrocks and all that are holy, where is the defense? Where are all those hustle plays we saw last year? I hate watching this team run around like chickens with their heads cut off on both ends of the floor. Are they just tired? Do they really believe they can win this year or deep down have they already conceded the trophy? I hope it’s the former. I expect them to brush off the embarrassing stench of losing on their home floor to a rookie, wake up and redeem themselves. At least they better if they expect to make it out of the first round with their dignity in tact.

I am happy to give credit where credit is due. Derrick Rose has been a stud. He’s been amazing this season as a rookie and deserves a lot of accolades. But, as Stephen A. Smith would say… Howeva… Memo to Stu Scott and Michael Wilbon: STOP comparing him to Michael Jordan. STOP acting like he’s the second coming of Chris Paul. Just settle down. The national media is out of hand. They need to just stop it or I’m going to have to watch all upcoming playoffs coverage on mute.

In other news, Rey-Rey (@TheNoLookPass) from The No-Look Pass blog interviewed me as part of his “Talking To Chicks Who Love Hoops” series. I sound like a loose cannon that throws things at people, but check it out anyway.
