celtics afterthoughts: this just in. j.j. redick can play defense

Playoffs Game 1
Celtics v. Magic 90-95

Here we go again… dropping game 1. And here I go again, not panicking. This was a strange game. The Celtics go down by a million points and then fight their way back to almost pull out the come-from-behind win. Sounds familiar, no? They did the same thing during the regular season. I’m sure there was some emotional letdown after narrowly edging the Bulls to the 2nd round, but I feel like another problem the Celtics have is with respect. I don’t think they have much respect for Orlando’s game and sometimes I think that bites them in the butt. Who, before this game, thought J.J. Redick would be able to stick to Ray Allen like wallpaper all game and run him off screens so effectively? I’ve followed him since Duke and I had no idea he’d improved so much on defense. I’m guessing it caught the Cs off-guard too. That being said, I think the Celtics primarily beat themselves last night. Rondo wasn’t Rondo for most of the game and he’s the engine that makes them go. He’s important all the time, but especially without KG. When he has a bad game and there’s no KG, the Cs are almost always going to be toast. I’ll admit I had the same problem respecting the Magic before last night and was predicting the Celtics to win it in 4 or 5 games. I’m now predicting they’ll win it in 6 or 7. I still think the Celtics are a better team and the only way they don’t win the series is if they run out of gas or suffer another injury.

Playoff Game 7
Celtics v. Bulls 109-99

Goodbye.

Hello.

I’m not gonna lie. I think we dodged a bullet and now I like our chances. No disrespect intended towards Orlando, but I think we match up with them a lot better. Orlando is one of my favorite teams after the Celtics, but I imagine by this time next week I’m going to hate them and the majority of their fans. Lol. Actually it isn’t even Orlando fans that I will hate, it’s Celtics-hating NBA fans that will be rooting for Orlando simply because they’re playing Boston. I know it’s ironic to hate haters, but I can’t help it. I love my team, so I take it personally when people trash them and will always feel compelled to defend their honor. It’s just the way I roll.

The sports blogosphere must really really really love them some J.J. Redick. Or else I wouldn’t have gotten an eyeful of this yesterday while perusing my feeds. Ok then. Here’s my uzi full of J.J.:

Playoffs Game 6
Celtics @ Bulls 127-128 3OT

bitchassness

Both of these teams are like cockroaches. They simply refuse to die. I’m glad there is only one possible game left because I’m sick to death of the following:

  • Vinny Del Negro’s pointy nose
  • Kirk Heinrich’s rat face
  • Ben Gordon’s balls
  • Joakim Noah’s fuzzy ponytail
  • Tyrus Thomas’ bitchassness
  • Derrick Rose’s I’m-not-fazed gaze
  • The color red

Ah yes, it’s the playoffs. I felt the same way last season about the Hawks. I still vomit in my mouth a little every time I see Zaza and Bibby.

Ok, game 7 then. I guess it’s gotta be that way. Let’s settle this bitch.

Go Celtics!

In other news, the Maine Red Claws (assumed Celtics farm team) have a logo. I’m not gonna lie. I love it. He looks feisty.
