Sadly, I have to agree with Ron Artest
* Apparently somewhere, sometime in the not-so-distant past, Doc Rivers said that the Lakers have never beaten the Celtics starting five. I heard that and was surprised that Doc would go there. I suppose technically he’s right, but the statement is neither here nor there and certainly doesn’t diminish the Lakers’ accomplishments. Anyway, Ron Artest took umbrage and spouted off about Doc on his Twitter feed. Sadly, I have to agree with him. Damn you Doc, don’t put me in this position!

Rondo’s convenient ‘family problems’
* Here is the order of events: Rondo gets a DNP-CD, Rondo remarks that he’ll probably be the final Team USA cut, Rondo withdraws from Team USA because of ‘family problems’. Fishy timing. But oh well, selfishly I’m glad he got cut/quit because this way he’ll be more rested for the upcoming season. Though technically speaking if they do what they did last year, they’ll rest all season anyway. Bah dump dump *cymbols* thank you, I’ll be here all week, don’t forget to tip the waitstaff…

* So, a couple days ago I read that the Nuggets are trying to move J.R. Smith. Blasphemy! Then the next day, I heard that he kinda, sorta, might have… choked someone a little. Oopsy. Tsk tsk. * The Tigers placed Johnny Traitorface Damon on waivers and the Red Sox claimed him, so for a day or so my local radio was bloated with “Johnny’s coming back, baby!” talk. I didn’t think it would actually happen, but it was amusing to think about. He blocked the potential shenanigans with his no-trade clause claiming that he just loves Detroit like a long lost play cousin. Yeah, riiiiight.

The wedding cake included layers of chocolate, coconut and red velvet, and the bride and groom’s first dance was to R. Kelly’s “You Made Me Love You.”

Ew. I just noticed how many blog posts I’ve devoted to an egomaniac that I don’t even like. Must counter it with news about basketball entities that I do like. I’d discuss the Celtics off-season moves, but they haven’t made any yet that I’m particularly thrilled about. Jermaine O’Neal? Are you fucking kidding me? All I know about that guy is that every time he goes up against Perk, he looks like he’s about to cry. That doesn’t give me confidence. Of course I’m glad we retained Paul & Ray, but that isn’t so much moving up the grid as much as it’s staying the course. Yes yes, we re-signed Donkey… I’m cool with it, but again, that’s staying the course. IF Rasheed retires, I might do a jig, but then still, the names I’ve heard floating around to replace him (Shaq? Blah. There are no Boston-themed nicknames that will fit Shaq!) don’t excite me. So since I don’t have anything positive to say at the moment on that topic, let’s talk about J.J.! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy!

The Orlando Magic matched an offer sheet for J.J.’s services from the Chicago Bulls. The Orlando Sentinel posted this gem last Friday:

LOS ANGELES — Celtics center Kendrick Perkins walked into Staples Center on crutches this afternoon and told reporters he has torn MCL and PCL ligaments in his right knee. The injury ends any chance that Perkins will play in tomorrow’s Finals Game 7 against the Lakers.”It’s crazy,” said Perkins. “I bang all the time and come out fine, and this time I get hurt. It’s one of those plays you wish you could take back.”
