Celtics v. 76ers 110-91

Wow, those 76ers sure can run. Especially without Elton Brand. For a little while, early in the game, I thought the fast break transition game was going to be a problem. Silly me. The C’s broke away in the 2nd half and put this one away early and easily. The [other] love of my life, Leon Powe, was named ‘Player of the Game’. It’s too bad I didn’t pick this game to go to with my awesome sign. *wink*

History was made. Best NBA start and franchise winning streak. Personally, I’m getting sick of hearing about winning streaks. The last time I got caught up in a winning streak, the Giants ripped my heart out and stole my Superbowl ring. (haha) So let’s just stop talking about it.

Get out those ‘Beat LA’ t-shirts people because D-day is upon us! Although… no offense to anyone, but I worry more about playing the Hawks. I guess I’m just not drinking the kool-aid yet when it comes to the Lakers. It has nothing to do with being a Celtics fan either. If I thought the Lakers were the team to beat in this league, I’d admit it. At this point, I don’t think so. They still need to tweak some things. Mostly between the ears. Kobe is fine. Never anything to worry about with him. It’s everyone else that I wonder about. They’re close, but I don’t think they could beat the Celtics in 7 at this point. Tomorrow’s game isn’t 7 though, it’s just one — and it’s in Lakerland — so who knows. Who am I worried about then? Maybe the Cavs. They’ve been looking better and better lately and with Lebron on the court, anything can happen. I’m looking forward to the teams meeting again so I can assess how they stack up.

Wow. Talk about a buzzkill. Game 2, the Red Sox literally slaughter the Yankees 11-3. Right in front of Fat Jack, no less. That was good times. Then in game 3, Jon Lester pitches a fan-fracking-tastic game and it looks like a sweep is imminent and what happens? Wha wha what? The bullpen (I shall not throw him by name under the bus – I’m a peach like that) blows monkeyballs letting Giambi win the game for the Yankees. Talk about going from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. It’s like winning a million games in the regular season and then losing the Superbowl. Stop the insanity. And no, I’m not just glad to have won the series 2-1. We should’ve put the nail in the coffin and swept the joint. That is the only thing that would’ve made me happy. Ok fine, I’m spoiled.

Josh Beckett has to go see Dr. James Andrews. Nooooooooo!

Patriots v. Giants pre-season loss: I don’t watch any pre-season bullshrimp, but my mom is a little worried now. Personally, I don’t count any games where Tom Brady and Randy Moss aren’t on the field. I won’t begin any evaluation until the regular season starts. Besides, Belichick loves to mindfrack the league. He would love it if the rest of the teams got their hopes up.

The whole team just seems fresher and lighter. Like a big ugly fog has been lifted from the dugout at Fenway. Speaking of Manny, I heard a rumor (yes, my Mom) that he’s agreed to cut his hair. Reminds me of another sellout *cough Johnny Damon cough*. Oh well… I wipe my hands of him. I know he’s said nice things about the Boston fans in his presser, but I don’t care. If he really cared about the fans, he wouldn’t have acted like a jerkface sockmonkey every single fracking year for no reason other than that he was a spoiled rotten primadonna. Phew. I guess I’m still bitter. Not as bitter as I still am about those smelly NY Giants stealing my Superbowl trophy… but close.

Son of a bratwurst, I thought of all these things I wanted to blog about today on my ride home from work (I have an hour commute and it keeps me from flipping off all the tools who fly by me yapping on their cell phones with one hand and smoking cigarrettes with the other — hey, who needs hands to drive? Not them, apparently!) and now I’ve pretty much forgotten all of it. Oh wait, now I remember… one of the things anyway.

Can I call an end to ESPN subbing in professional athletes to fill in for Mike Golic this week on Mike & Mike? I had no idea how much I truly despised Osi Umenurabastard until today. What a cocky monkeynut. Ok fine, I’m still bitter about the Superbowl, but damn… I wanted to fist fight him over pretty much every statement coming out of his mouth. He’d kill me of course, but that’s neither here nor there in a fictional fist fight. In a fictional fist fight, maybe I kick his ass. It’s nice to finally have an NFL team to hate. I really want to hate the Colts, but they just aren’t that hateable. Even the Cowboys haven’t stepped up far enough to draw my ire yet. The Giants however, they’ve finally earned my eternal loathing.

Red Sox are playing right now. Wakefield is pitching. I’m not gonna lie, I don’t have a great feeling about it. I hate road games. Fenway is so much more fun. The familiarity of the park is better and of course the fans are wayyyyy better. Cora just screwed up a routine play and then Cash missed a throw so the Rays draw first blood. Maybe if I switch the channel they’ll start playing better. The WNBA is on ESPN2. Ah, so that’s where Ivory Latta ended up.

I can’t wait to see where all the NBA free agents land. I heard that the Celtics offered contracts to both Posey and Maggette. Interesting. I love James Posey. Love love love him. I hope he stays, but I have a feeling he’s heading to warmer pastures. I think he really missed Miami this season even though he won a championship in Boston. I wouldn’t be shocked if he ends up somewhere where the sun shines a lot more. We’ll see.
